The Superman of gymnastics — six consecutive World all-around titles and two Olympic golds.
Kohei Uchimura was born in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, Japan in 1989. He won the World all-around championship six consecutive times from 2009 to 2015 — the most in history. He won Olympic all-around gold at London 2012 and Rio 2016. He is nicknamed Superman by the gymnastics community for the difficulty and execution of his routines. He struggled with debt from gambling — declared publicly — during his career. He retired after the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He is considered the finest all-around gymnast in history and Japan's most decorated Olympic athlete in any sport.
