Juan Francisco Estrada settled one of the finest rivalries in modern lower-weight boxing by defeating Román 'Chocolatito' González in the decisive third fight of their trilogy, capping a two-division championship career that has established him as the most technically complete fighter Mexico has produced at the lighter weights in a generation. He began boxing at nine, and at 15 moved to Hermosillo, Sonora, to focus more intensively on his development, compiling an amateur record of 94 wins against just four losses and winning four national championships. Estrada turned professional at 18 in 2008, fighting under the nickname "El Gallo" (The Rooster), and developed into one of the most technically complete and fan-friendly boxers of his generation despite standing just 5 feet 4 inches tall.
