Set UFC records for most consecutive welterweight title defenses (9) and became the fourth fighter to win titles in two divisions.

Georges St-Pierre was born on 19 May 1981 in Saint-Isidore, Quebec, Canada, and began training in karate at age seven, partly to defend himself against schoolyard bullies, eventually earning black belts across multiple disciplines including Kyokushin karate, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and Shotokan. St-Pierre, known by his initials GSP, turned professional in mixed martial arts in 2002, and developed into one of the most dominant and scientifically minded welterweights in the sport's history, assembling an elite coaching team spanning wrestling, boxing, Muay Thai, and jiu-jitsu specialists to continually refine his game. St-Pierre won the UFC Welterweight Championship on multiple occasions, defending the title a division-record nine times across his career, and moved up to challenge for and win the middleweight title in 2017, becoming a two-division champion before retiring shortly afterward. St-Pierre was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame and appointed to the Order of Canada, and has pursued an acting career alongside his MMA legacy, appearing in films including Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and remains widely regarded as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time.
