Born in Fountain Valley, California, Frederick Charles Freeman developed his baseball skills in Orange County before being drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the second round of the 2007 MLB Draft. The son of a Canadian mother and American father, Freeman represented Canada in international competition early in his career, including the 2009 World Baseball Classic. Freeman made his MLB debut with Atlanta in 2010 and quickly established himself as one of baseball's premier first basemen.
