Argentine Formula 1 driver who became the first Argentine to score F1 points since 1982, racing for Williams from 2024 and rising through junior formulas.

Franco Alejandro Colapinto was born on 27 May 2003 in Pilar, Buenos Aires, Argentina, of Italian descent through his father and Ukrainian descent through his mother, and began competitive kart racing at nine, winning several regional and national titles before moving to Europe to pursue single-seater racing. Colapinto won the Spanish Formula Four championship in 2019, and progressed steadily through Formula Renault, Formula 3, and Formula 2 as a member of the Williams Driver Academy, also competing in sports car racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2021. Colapinto made a sensational mid-season Formula One debut with Williams at the 2024 Italian Grand Prix, replacing Logan Sargeant, and immediately impressed with a string of point-scoring drives that made him one of the most talked-about rookies of the season, winning the Overtake Award and Argentina's prestigious Olimpia de Oro honour that year. Colapinto moved to Alpine for the 2026 season, becoming the latest in a long line of Argentine drivers hoping to revive the country's Formula One legacy, which dates back to the era of five-time world champion Juan Manuel Fangio, and remains one of the most popular young drivers in South American motorsport.
