Deiveson Alcântara Figueiredo was born on 18 December 1987 in Soure, Pará, a small city on the island of Marajó in Brazil, and turned professional in mixed martial arts in 2012, training extensively across multiple gyms including Team Alpha Male and his own Team Figueiredo. Figueiredo, nicknamed "Deus da Guerra" (God of War), became one of the finest flyweights in UFC history, winning the UFC Flyweight Championship on two separate occasions across a fierce rivalry with Brandon Moreno that produced four fights, regarded as one of the greatest series in the division's history.
