Courtney Bruce was born on 8 December 1993 in Perth, Western Australia, and grew up in the city's southern suburbs, attending Kelmscott Senior High School before beginning her career in the sport's elite ranks. Bruce developed into one of the most dominant defenders in Australian netball, renowned for her aerial ability and interceptions, and became a key figure for the Sunshine Coast Lightning in the Suncorp Super Netball league, helping establish the expansion franchise as one of the competition's most successful teams. Bruce was part of the Australian squad that won silver at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, and was selected for the Australian Diamonds squad for the 2018/19 international season, cementing her position among the country's elite defensive talent.
