Bayern Munich's Dutch winger whose trademark left-foot cut-in became one of football's most unstoppable moves, including the 2013 UCL-winning goal.
Arjen Robben was born in Bedum, Netherlands in 1984 and began at Groningen (2000–2002) before PSV Eindhoven (2002–2004) where he won 2 Eredivisie titles. Chelsea (2004–2007, 2 Premier League titles), Real Madrid (2007–2009, La Liga 2008) and then Bayern Munich (2009–2019) — where his career reached its peak — followed. He won 8 Bundesliga titles, 5 DFB-Pokals and the 2013 Champions League at Bayern, scoring the winning goal in injury time of the final against Borussia Dortmund. He returned to Groningen (2020–21) before retiring at 36. He earned 96 Netherlands caps scoring 37 goals, reaching the 2010 World Cup final. His top speed of 37.0 km/h was among the fastest ever officially recorded for an outfield player in the Bundesliga. Despite covering only 10.2 km per game — less than most wingers — he was devastating in his bursts. He scored 338 career goals and 225 assists in 740 appearances. His signature move — cutting inside from the right on his left foot to shoot — was the most predictable and yet most unstoppable individual action in the game during his peak years.
