British racing driver from Guernsey, three-time World Touring Car Championship winner and BMW factory driver who dominated WTCC from 2005-2007

Andrew Graham Priaulx was born on 7 August 1974 in Guernsey, and began karting at the minimum age of eight before briefly trying powerboat racing and then hillclimbing as a teenager, sharing a car with his father, Graham, and winning the British Hillclimb Championship in 1995. Priaulx moved into circuit racing, and became one of the most successful touring car drivers in history, winning the World Touring Car Championship three consecutive times, from 2005 to 2007, driving for BMW — a record surpassing Roberto Ravaglia's previous mark of three successive titles. Priaulx's 2006 title was secured by the narrowest of margins, needing only a fifth-place finish in the season finale to beat Jörg Müller by a single point, while his 2007 championship went down to the final meeting in Macau, where he claimed the title alongside BMW's manufacturers' crown. Priaulx was appointed MBE in 2008 for his services to motorsport, and went on to compete in the World Endurance Championship, the American Le Mans Series, and Australian V8 Supercars, extending a well-travelled career across multiple disciplines. His son, Sebastian, has followed him into professional racing, competing in the IMSA SportsCar Championship.
