Italian MotoGP rider known for his consistency and three consecutive runner-up finishes in the premier class between 2017-2019.

Andrea Dovizioso was born on 23 March 1986 in Forlimpopoli, Italy, to Antonio Dovizioso, a Sicilian motorcycle racer who gave his son a minibike at just four years old, sparking a career that would see Andrea win national titles before his teens. Dovizioso won the 125cc World Championship in 2004 with Team Scot Honda, becoming only the second Italian rider to win the lightweight class after Valentino Rossi, and moved through the 250cc category before graduating to MotoGP in 2008, where he was the top Independent Team rider in his rookie season. Dovizioso, nicknamed "the Professor" for his calculated, analytical approach to racing, won his first premier-class race at the 2009 British Grand Prix in wet conditions at Donington Park, and moved to Ducati in 2013, where he became the manufacturer's most successful modern rider. Dovizioso finished runner-up in the MotoGP World Championship to Marc Márquez for three consecutive seasons — 2017, 2018, and 2019 — winning 15 races and 62 podiums across his premier-class career, all but one with Ducati. He announced his retirement during the 2022 season, closing out a career spanning 21 years and three Grand Prix classes.
