Anderson Peters

Two-time javelin world champion.

Anderson Peters was born on 21 October 1997 in Saint Andrew, Grenada, and competed collegiately for Mississippi State University before developing into the finest javelin thrower his country has ever produced, representing the St David's Track Blazers club. Peters won the world title in the javelin throw at both the 2019 and 2022 World Championships, becoming a two-time world champion, and set the Grenadian and Championship record with a throw of 93.07 metres in 2022, a mark that ranks among the finest in the event's history. Peters won bronze in the javelin throw at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and delivered an impressive 90-metre throw at a Diamond League meeting in Lausanne shortly afterward, finishing ahead of Olympic silver medallist Neeraj Chopra of India. Peters was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2022 for his services to sport, and has continued competing at the top level despite injury setbacks, remaining one of the most decorated Caribbean athletes outside of sprinting events.
