Ajinkya Rahane was born on 6 June 1988 in Ashvi, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, India. He made his Test debut in 2013 and became one of India's finest Test batsmen, known for his dependable technique and ability to bat in difficult conditions. He scored 5,917 Test runs including 12 centuries. He led India to their historic victory at the Gabba in January 2021 when regular captain Virat Kohli was absent, winning the Test series in Australia from 1-1 — arguably India's greatest Test victory. He retired from international cricket in 2024.
