The greatest jump jockey in history — Champion Jockey for 20 consecutive seasons.
Anthony Peter McCoy was born in Moneyglass, County Antrim, Northern Ireland in 1974. He is the most successful jump jockey in the history of the sport — Champion Jockey for 20 consecutive seasons from 1995-96 to 2014-15, a record of sustained dominance that has no parallel in any mainstream sport over a comparable time span. He rode 4,358 professional winners — over 1,000 more than any other jump jockey in history. He won the Grand National on Don't Push It in 2010 — his only success in the race across 15 attempts, making the moment all the more celebrated. He won the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Champion Hurdle and King George VI Chase. He was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2010 — the first jump jockey to win the award. He received a knighthood in 2016. He retired in April 2015 having been Champion Jockey every single year of his 20-season professional career. His relentless drive, ability to get the best performance from any horse and extraordinary physical courage — riding through fractures and injuries that would have ended any other career — define his legacy as one of sport's most remarkable achievers.
