Anna van der Breggen was born in Dwingeloo, Netherlands in 1990. She won the Olympic road race gold medal at Rio 2016. She won the World Championship three times and the Giro Donne six times — the women's Grand Tour equivalent. She won back-to-back world championships in 2020 and 2021, including time trial and road race titles. She transitioned to team sports director for SD Worx after retirement in 2021. She is considered the most complete female road cyclist of her generation.
