Alberto Tomba was Italian skiing's flamboyant genius, 'La Bomba' who won five Olympic medals across three Winter Games and dominated slalom and giant slalom throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. His exceptional combination of technical brilliance, dramatic race comebacks, and larger-than-life personality made him Italian sport's defining figure of his era. His rivalry with Marc Girardelli and Marc Girardelli produced some of skiing's most dramatic finales.
